Google Maps is an excellent service that lacks a very important feature. You can get directions for walking, for driving at highway speeds, and for public transit, but not for bicycling. This is an advocacy group who means to convince Google to add this very important lacking feature. They have a petition drive etc including a list of links to other bicycle route planning websites.

It's a laudable goal and I support the desired end result. It is however a simple bit of competition, right? If Google doesn't want to provide this service and it's a valuable enough service then other groups will work to provide it. And indeed they are.

I fully agree it would be great for Google to offer this themselves.
