Consumption is an innate attribute of all animals, including humans
All living organisms eat food to live. We (they) breath air to live. We (they) drink water to live. We (they) do this all day long, every day of the year. All animals and all plants do this.
A significant differentiation between living and dead things is: consumption. Dead things do not consume, living things do consume.
Living things both consume and expel.
The process can be called inhale and exhale, or eat and defectate, or drink and sweat. There are many forms of consumption with different words labeling each form.
